For people who have difficulty swallowing, the sensory and emotional pleasures of food can be relegated to memory, diminishing their quality of life. German company Biozoon has created Smoothfood, a simple technology that converts different foods into easy-to-swallow but still appetising forms.

UK-based Helen McArdle Care Homes has partnered with Biozoon to create meals for its elderly residents that look, smell and taste just like they should, but that are much easier to eat.
